Pandemic Mental Breakdowns are a real thing and can happen in any moment, especially if you have been bottling things up internally and have no outlets to release.
Last year around this time we all had no idea our lives would all turn upside down and completely shift from the life that we knew from the luxury of going to the parks + beaches, to meeting with loved ones to even going and getting essentials and foods that are needed to live.
Overnight everything changed and the life you knew completely “poof” vanished, which resulted in trauma overnight.
Regardless of what anyone says there is a level of trauma that we have all undergone with the pandemic, not to mention old triggers of trauma being activated and brought to the surface.
We were all unrooted in our daily healthy routines and entered into a space of survival in an instant.
For some, being home with everyone all the time was scary and unsafe as it brought up fears around their abusers and now having no safe space for themselves to breathe, gather thoughts, relax, let alone to create and build.
For some that were focusing on their health journey it brought up fears around the body as food was scarce and they went back into not trusting their body could heal or that they would even have the right foods accessible to help them heal their body.
The gyms + studios were shut down and for some this was the only space they could move their body and release the everyday stress, process their thoughts and have some time for themselves as it was their safe space.
Not being able to go outside and being confined all day in unsafe environments for many brought up a lot of shadows, fears, emotions and felt very heavy for people as all the spaces for expression and safety were all off the table so many were running around in loops all year internally going crazy and having breakdowns because they had no space to process what they were moving through and really see what was going on.
Emotions started to bottle up and connections with others started to dwindle as each person was going through their own shadows.
As the months progressed all the good and healthy habits and routines that you had created as were active in the beginning of the year with mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually all started to fade away and it became dark for many.
Old habits around sex, drugs, alcohol, food started to resurface. Not staying on top of your emotional health started to fade and anger, sadness and fear started to run lives.
Life became entrapped for some and for others felt healing as they worked through deep shadows and trauma from their life.
This is a reminder to all of us that no matter how much work we do on ourselves it is so important to be healthy in all areas of our lives and to stay on top of it. It is not just something you do but it is a lifestyle.
2020 showed us where the healing is within ourselves and where there were shadows we didn’t even know we had.
Now that we move into 2020 we get to take all that we have seen and learned last year and build with it, building stronger healthy foundations in all areas of our life’s from daily routines, lifestyle, relationships, mindset, body, career etc.
This is your call to check in with yourself and see where you feel into old unhealthy ways and forgive yourself and others and we all have done so. We are human and it is okay to fall and get back up, as none of us are perfect.
Get support, reach out and connect and communicate what you are working through because no one can help you or hold space for you if you do not share and ask for help, support or space.
Lean on your community and the ones who love and people who have the tools to help you.
