The great Earth Mother Ceres stationed Retrograde in Pisces on July 7th where she will stay until September 27th, then moving into Aquarius and then makes her way stationing direct on October 18th.⠀

Ceres is the largest asteroid and is the Goddess of Agriculture, nutrition, health, and motherhood. Ceres orbits between Mars and Jupiter and orbits around the Sun every 4.6 years.⠀

Ceres was the Daughter of Saturn and was swallowed up by her father alongside her sisters Vesta and Juno (asteroids) and brothers Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto. Eventually she was freed by her brother Jupiter and gave the gift of Grains to nourish humanity, which made her the goddess of agriculture.⠀

She is the Mother to Persephone (asteroid) and the two of them together look over Earth and provide abundance to it all year long. ⠀

One day Persephone was wandering the Nysian fields and picked a Narcissus, and the moment she picked the flower she was seized by Pluto who took her to the Underworld. Ceres was upset to find her daughter missing and didn’t eat, sleep, bathe for days and instead wandered around with a flaming torch trying to find her daughter.⠀

Ceres cursed the Earth so that nothing would grow and famine would take place for humanity until her daughter would return.⠀

The humans pleaded (prayed) to Zeus and eventually Zeus sent Hermes to the Underworld where Pluto agreed to release Persephone, but she had to eat pomegranate seeds first. ⠀

Pomegranate seeds are the symbol of sexual consummation and thus confirmed her marriage to Pluto.

After she returned Ceres found out that her daughter was tricked by Pluto and she reinstalled her curse upon Earth until Zeus and Pluto came to a compromise- for every pomegranate seed she ate should would spend in the Underworld and the other months she could spend with her mother Ceres on Earth. ⠀

This is how we have harvest on Earth during Spring and during Fall Persephone returns back to the underworld and the Earth becomes barren again.⠀

Ceres tells us about the relationship we have with our mother and where we needed her to nurture us the most. 

When Ceres is retrograde we take another look at our relationship with our mother and see how it is affecting/playing a role with everything in our lives from love, to money, to health etc. 

We take a look at how we are treating ourselves, how we are nurturing ourselves, playing into self sabotaging ways, playing into lack of worth or even seeing how relationships around us are supporting us or are unbalanced. 

This is a time to look at where we are barren or bearing fruit in our lives and how we are contributing to both.

This is a perfect time to add new healthy routines into your daily life around self care to your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical being. 

Check in with yourself to see how you are parenting yourself and how you are nurturing everyone else over yourself first. 

This is where we check in with relationships that are not balanced and see if are over compensating for the other individual to bring balance into the relationship. 

Over the next months we will be learning how to nurture ourselves more and take better care of ourselves, our health and our relationship with food.
